Choosing which material to use for your next project could be a tough decision. We gathered all our supported materials with their properties and applications advices.
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
Commodity plastic, improved mechanical and thermal properties compared to PLA. ABS is a common thermoplastic with good mechanical properties and excellent impact strength, superior to PLA but with less defined details.
Used to substitute functional injection moulded parts, good chemical resistance. Nylon or polyamide (PA) is a thermoplastic with excellent mechanical properties, high chemical and abrasion resistance. Perfect for functional applications.
High detail and smooth surface, injection mold-like prototyping. Resins are thermoset photopolymers that solidify when exposed to light, producing high detail parts with a smooth, injection mold-like surface finish.
Formlabs High Temp Resin - This resin has a high deflection temperature (hence it's name), which is the ability to withstand high temperture without deforming under specific pressure. The heat deflection temperature for this resin is 120°C for 0.45MPa or 238°C if it goes through additional thermal curing processes.
Verowhite Resin 3D prints create objects which are particularly smooth and precise. This material is perfect for ornamental objects. VeroWhite (opaque white Polyjet resin) is also often used by large companies when prototyping new designs, this PolyJet material offers the possibility to create really realistic prototypes
Industrial thermoplastic with high accuracy, durability and high strength. PC (polycarbonate) is widely used in automotive, aerospace, medical and many other applications. PC offers accuracy, durability and stability, creating strong parts that withstand functional testing.
Good for mechanical parts with high impact resistance and flexibility. Sterilizable. PETG is a thermoplastic with improved properties over PLA, with high impact resistance and excellent chemical and moisture resistance. PETG can be sterilized.
UV stability and high chemical resistance, preferred material for outdoor applications. ASA is a thermoplastic with properties similar to ABS but with improved thermal, chemical and weather resistance. Perfect for outdoor applications.
High machinability and ductility, good strength-to-weight ratio. Aluminum alloys have good strength-to-weight ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivity, low density and natural corrosion resistance. Can be anodized.
High-performance thermoplastic, very high strength, thermal and chemical resistant. PEEK is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic with excellent mechanical properties and chemical over a very wide temperature range.
Carbon fiber is a thin filament made up of carbon atoms organized into a crystalline structure. Because of its very high stiffness and strength it is widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries.
